Biting Back Events
An important part of Biting Back's mission is to spread nutrition education through workshops as well as food access through drives, meal prep events, and more. Read below to hear more specifics about our events and to see upcoming/previous ones.

WORKSHOPS
At Biting Back, our signature events are our interactive nutrition workshops. Each workshop focuses on a different nutrition topic, such as macronutrients and micronutrients, building balanced meals, understanding food labels, meal prepping, or eating healthfully on a budget. Once we've covered our full workshop series, we begin again from the start so new participants can easily join and learn from the beginning.
Every workshop includes an engaging hands-on activity that allows participants to apply what they've learned. Activities may include creating a balanced meal, navigating a grocery store simulation, comparing nutrition labels, or practicing meal planning skills. Our goal is to make nutrition education practical, interactive, and easy to incorporate into everyday life.

BEYOND WORKSHOPS
To ensure our resources are accessible to everyone, every workshop is uploaded to our website along with presentation slides, handouts, and any additional educational materials. We also provide recorded versions of each workshop so individuals who cannot attend in person can still learn at their own pace.
In addition to our educational programming, Biting Back organizes healthy food donation drives and community meal preparation events. Donations collected through these initiatives are used to prepare nutritious meals for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, particularly those living in underserved communities and food deserts. Meal preparation events take place both during select workshops and as standalone volunteer opportunities.

RECORDING POLICY
Photos and recording at workshops
We sometimes photograph or record our workshops, and we use those photos to show what Biting Back actually looks like.
We will not publish a photo or video of anyone under 18 without a signed permission form from a parent or guardian. Coming to a workshop is not consent. We'll send the form out before the workshop, and there will be copies at the door.
If you're 18 or over, tell us at any point that you'd rather not be photographed and we'll make sure you aren't. No explanation needed.
If something's already posted and you want it down, email bitingbackorganization@gmail.com and we'll take it down.
