Another important focus of Biting Back is fighting food injustice. On this page, you can learn what food injustice is, who it affects, how to get involved or access support, and find tips for navigating these challenges.

What is food injustice?

Food injustice can have different definitions depending on how broad you think of it. Food injustice at its core, however, is exactly what it sounds like: not having access to three meals a day. At Biting Back we also include in our definition of food injustice not having access to or being able to afford healthy and nourishing food. Food is a necessity for a living being and therefore food insecurity and the inability to get healthy food in a country that has an abundance of food is absurd. At Biting Back we fight this food injustice by providing healthy meals in and outside of workshops, speak out about food injustice, directly work with individuals facing food injustice, partner with other organizations, and provide toolkits.

How can you help?

You can help fight food injustice by supporting Biting Back through donating, volunteering, talking about our organization, or coming to our workshops. Simply speaking out about food injustice is helping to highlight the hypocrisy of it and makes a bigger impact than you know.

How can I get support?

If you are facing food injustice you can get support from Biting Back by reaching out to us as an individual or a community and we  can try to directly support you in the best way we can. Additionally, on our website we have a toolkits page where we list out strategies for people facing food injustice, provide grocery store maps, and give payment strategies for buying affordable yet healthy groceries.
